Hourly QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below.
An example of an acceptable qualification for this position:
Completion of secondary education (high school or GED), supplemented by coursework or verifiable training in water distribution or treatment, plus a minimum of one (1) year experience in water supply, water distribution or like field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Must possess and maintain a State of Ohio Class I Water Supply License, or obtain within 24 months.

is exposed to water treatment equipment and chemicals; is exposed to dirt, dust, and odor; works around motorized equipment; lifts and moves heavy items (e.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND WORKER CHARACTERISTICS:
JOB DUTIES in order of importance ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION For purposes of 42 USC 12101:
1.
Inspects facility on scheduled basis to ensure proper operation of plant and equipment and to ensure desired water quality is maintained or achieved, e.
g.
, takes and records equipment readings, operates pumps, motors, metering and chlorinating equipment; adjusts chemical feed flows to ensure adherence to prescribed formulas; backwashes filters; ensure proper levels of above ground storage tanks and plant clearwell are maintained and adjusts pumps to maintain or achieve proper levels.
2.
Conducts routine tests of water to analyze water quality and ensure adherence to EPA standards; adjusts chemical feed rates to meet quality as needed.
3.
Performs routine mechanical and electrical work involved with the maintenance, repair, and installation of pumps, motors, feeders, and other related equipment; performs preventative maintenance on equipment and facility, e.
g.
, sweeps and mops floors, paints equipment, oils and lubricates machinery, mows grass, shovels snow, loads and stores shipments of chemicals; performs other routine janitorial services.
4.
Prepares and submits daily records of plant operation, e.
g.
, water pumped, chemicals used, etc.
5.
Maintains required licensure and certification.
6.
Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
7.
Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.

May be required to work various shifts and hours.

Performs any and all other related duties as assigned or directed in order to promote, further, and ensure the effective and efficient operation of the City of Bellevue.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE CHARACTERISTICS:

City of Bellevue policies and procedures; plant inspection techniques; safety practices and procedures; water treatment plant operating procedures; water treatment regulations; mechanical maintenance; water distribution systems and components; water distribution principles and practices; proper lifting techniques.
Skill in:
water testing instruments and/or materials utilization; use of mechanic's tools and equipment; use of modern office equipment.
Ability to:
define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages; determine material and equipment needs; read, copy, and record figures accurately; complete routine forms; prepare accurate documentation; compile and prepare reports; communicate effectively; maintain records according to established procedures; develop and maintain effective working relationships; perform light manual labor; travel to and gain access to work sites.
